Background of the Study
Urban migration has rapidly reshaped social dynamics in many localities, including Olorunda, where intergenerational conflicts increasingly surface (Adesina, 2023). As rural inhabitants move into urban centers, the clash between traditional values and modern urban lifestyles becomes evident, often leading to generational tensions (Balogun, 2024). This migration is not only an economic phenomenon but also a cultural shift that alters family structures and societal norms (Akinyemi, 2023). Recent literature reveals that such conflicts can affect community cohesion and hinder effective integration (Chidiebere, 2023). Moreover, studies have emphasized the need to examine these conflicts from both a socio-cultural and economic perspective (Ibrahim, 2024). The urban influx brings about rapid changes in local customs and intergenerational relationships, prompting the need for research to understand the underlying causes and consequences (Olawale, 2023). This study investigates how urban migration has influenced generational conflict in Olorunda and explores the multifaceted impacts on social, economic, and familial structures (Uche, 2025).
Statement of the Problem
The increasing rate of urban migration in Olorunda has resulted in pronounced generational conflicts, yet empirical studies examining these dynamics are scarce (Obi, 2023). Disruptions in traditional family hierarchies and value systems have led to socio-cultural tensions that are inadequately understood (Eze, 2024). The lack of comprehensive research on these issues hinders the development of effective policies to mitigate intergenerational strife (Ajayi, 2023). This study seeks to fill this gap by systematically exploring the causes and effects of urban migration on generational conflict.

Significance of the Study
The study provides crucial insights into the socio-cultural impacts of urban migration and its role in generating generational conflicts. Findings will guide policymakers in developing targeted interventions that harmonize traditional and modern values, fostering social cohesion and sustainable urban development (Okoro, 2023; Nwankwo, 2025).
Scope and Limitations of the Study:
This study is confined to exploring urban migration and generational conflict in Olorunda Local Government Area, Osun State. It does not extend to other regions or include variables outside migration and generational dynamics.
